"It felt important to get together."

After the year we've all had, it felt important to get together with the womxn who've made Limnia what it is today. So, when lockdown rules were lifted, we safely gathered to celebrate the San Francisco based womxn who continue to support us since that very first day we launched.

Today they answer the question:

Kasama means togetherness in Filipino – in honor of International Women's Day, what women in your life have had the most significant impact on your evolution? If many, how did their impact differ and what did you learn from them?

My mom was everyone’s favorite! She was musically talented, very witty, wise, and generous. She lived with chronic pain and had many illnesses (MS, diabetes, cancer, and heart disease). After recovering from surgery, a nurse came in to give her pain medication in the middle of the night and even in immense pain, she acknowledged how hard the nurse worked and thanked her for her help. Her graciousness and ability to recognize others is something I try to embody in my life.

I can’t think of just one woman that has influenced me, I have had so many great mentors that have gotten me to where I am today. When I think back to what had the biggest impact I would have to say it’s my mother, Ester. I learned from her the importance of unconditional love. I learned from her the value of getting up every morning and working hard to earn everything you have. I learned that you never give up on your dreams and aspirations, no matter how farfetched they are. I also learned to never be afraid to stand up for what is right, even if I am the only one standing. My mother has a heart of gold and I am forever grateful for the lessons in life that she has shown and given me.

My best friend Linda is a single mom and no matter how difficult things get, she will still make time for everyone else in her life. On top of that, she is literally the most thoughtful person I’ve ever met in my life. She is the most giving, and the most selfless person I know.
